Remembering Hong Kong through "In The Mood for Love"
About the film that made me fall in love with cinema
❥ During my life in Shanghai from 2016 to 2019, I was in Hong Kong several times. Usually I was there to do a visa run or to accompany friends for a visa run while I, of course, took a little weekend in the process. In short, I love Hong Kong and thanks to In The Mood For Love I now have a newfound appreciation for it even if my life in Asia is very much in the past. In much the same way that In the Mood for Love spoke to me through every transfiguration of culture and emotion that it depicted, so did the city itself when I was there 2017-2018. I’ve attached some photos of my visits below.
Cityscapes
When one thinks “modern” and “cosmopolitan” perhaps NYC and London come to mind, but oh my, Hong Kong is a treat. The people I met always spoke at least three languages and the art, culture, and signage around the city made sure to reflect this multilingual and multicultural landscape.

I would love to hear about your thoughts on the film, Hong Kong, and maybe even your own travel experience. Feel free to share in the comments below ♥
Food, food, food
Besides it being an incredibly cosmopolitan city with a beautiful nature get away and advanced tech that’s way ahead of ours in the West, there was also never a meal I didn’t like. You can get damn near any cuisine you’re craving, but Hong Kong boasts its own gastronomy that is heavily influenced by its international history.

"River of love we know
Where my heart was set aglow
When we loved not long ago…”
Noice. Now you've made me want to watch the movie and go to Hong Kong!!!
